“The melting furnaces are our show piece”

In Rifimpress, the alloy melting process follows a specific procedure in which the alloy is melted in a dedicated melting furnace where it is poured into a heated ladle and transferred to the degassing station. After degassing and deslagging, it is transported to the holding furnaces near the press.
The monitoring of the temperature of the alloy and chemical composition in the stages of this process are key to ensuring that customers obtain excellent raw

The company has 5 furnaces:

·      2 x 580 Kg crucible furnaces dedicated to special alloys

·      1 x dry hearth furnace for the main alloy (EN 46100)

·      1 x dry hearth furnace for the most used second alloy (EN 46000)

·      1 x dry hearth furnace for the most used second alloy (SILAFONT 36)

and a fixed degassing station with nitrogen and dedicated salts

Given the specific oxidation features of magnesium, it is melted directly in special holding furnaces that enable alloys and humidity to be isolated from the air.
